Pro Pain

Friday 10 - 15:15 to 16:00

Over a quarter of a century ago these godfathers of crossover burst upon the scene with their memorable debut ‘Foul Taste of Freedom’. Before long they had established a loyal following and with fifteen full-length efforts to date they are one of the more prolific acts in heavy music. In general, most of their songs are built on a hardcore foundation although ‘Act of God’ and ‘Round 6’ mark a slight change of course with more immediate song structures, dialling back the hardcore content in favour of a boot-to-throat thrash/groove attack. Still, Pro-Pain can be likened to AC/DC in that they rarely stray from their musical formula. This is also true of their lyrics: like most hardcore bands they have no love lost for the powers that be and war is another pet subject so it’s no surprise that Gary Meskil’s gargling screams should sound perpetually pissed off. Just last year Pro-Pain were touring in support of their ‘Voice of Rebellion’ album when Gary Meskil was visiously attacked in Brussels. He almost bled out but fortunately he’s made a full recovery. The voice of rebellion will not be silenced!
