The Belgian metal scene has boomed in recent years but let’s not forget there is one band that cleared the path thirty years ago: Channel Zero. And this time they’re treating us to a best-of set.
Their amazing eponymous 1991 debut and their sophomore outing ‘Stigmatized...’ (1993) landed them a slew of gigs all across Europe. Two years later, ‘Unsafe’ helped them break into the mainstream. ‘Black Fuel’ was set to propel Channel Zero to the top tier of the European metal scene but circumstances decided otherwise. Then in 2010 they resurfaced with a strong of sold-out shows in the AB in Brussels. ‘Feed ‘Em with a Brick’ (2011) cemented the comeback and for a while they were riding high again until disaster struck with the untimely demise of longtime drummer Phil B in 2013. Despite this tremendous blow they decided to soldier on in the knowledge that Phil wouldn’t have had it any other way. Since then two more albums reconfirmed their status as one of the flagbearers of Belgian metal. So what do the fans want to hear? Simple: the hits, the best tracks. And that’s exactly what they’ll get this summer.
