Founded over twenty years ago in New Fairfield, Connecticut, metalcore heroes Emmure have always been a controversial band, due in large part to frontman Frankie Palmeri’s bad boy reputation.
Emmure like to incorporate elements from other genres such as deathcore, metalcore, nu-metal and even rap into their material, and the band’s musical influences include the likes of Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit. Late 2015 all the band’s instrumentalists walked away, leaving only Palmeri to recruit new personnel. Enter Josh Miller, Phil Lockett and Josh Travis; today only Travis remains. His chugging style meshes extremely well with Emmure’s signature brutal breakdowns and Palmeri’s raspy nu-metal vocal style punctuated with shrieks, growls, rap and spoken word contributions. Even after two decades Palmeri doesn’t shy away from controversy. Bold merchandise, brawls, cuss words, personnel changes…It’s all in a day’s work. But the main thing is that their live shows never fail to impress!
