Bio
Thronehammer is an epic doom band that formed in 2012 and consists of German musicians and a British vocalist.
Tim Schmidt and singer Kat Shevil Gillham joining founder Stuart West (real name Torsten Trautwein) in 2018, providing the spark they needed to get off the mark in terms of recordings. The following year saw the release of their first full-length ‘Usurper of the Oaken Throne’, which was well-received on the doom metal scene. Dropping two years later, their sophomore effort was much more varied without abandoning the characteristic doom/sludge tempo and the fantasy-fuelled topics. Their most recent long player ‘Kingslayer’ is another step up. Despite a run time of 74 minutes things never get boring and the epic stories their lyrics tell are engaging. Even more than its predecessors, ‘Kingslayer’ is an excellent combination of the epic and the more unpolished side of doom.
