Alcatraz Line up: 2022
Warkings exploded onto the scene as a genuine battering ram with their first two outings ‘Reborn’ (2018) and ‘Revenge’ (2020) containing a by no means innovative but very entertaining blend of power and heavy metal. Just one year later the mighty warriors returned to the battlefield with fresh ammunition in the form of a new album chock-full of catchy heavy metal songs, excellent guitar work and great vocals by Georg Neuhauser (Serenity), who goes by ‘The Tribune’ here. The other band members call themselves The Viking (bassist), The Crusader (guitarist) and The Spartan (drums). The fantasy world on Revolution (2021) is set in the afterlife and the alliance they entered into there is handed down to the mob in the guise of ten new songs. The Warkings are skilled songwriters and every new track has a sense of familiarity to it, as if you’ve heard it before somewhere. The entertainment factor is so high that you are effortlessly drawn into their universe. Thunderous drums, riffs of steel and powerful vocals get their hooks in you from the veryfirst track. Forging their musical steel in the cry-to-arms tradition of Powerwolf, Sabaton, Amon Amarth, HammerFall, Manowar, Helloween and Running Wild, the Warkings will take the Alcatraz battlefield by storm this August.
