Bio
Formed in Oslo back in 1993, Dimmu Borgir (‘Dark Castles’ in Icelandic) quickly transcended genre boundaries by marrying a classic black metal sound with symphonic orchestration.
Pioneers in every sense of the word, they released trailblazing albums such as ‘Enthrone Darkness Triumphant’ (1997), ‘Spiritual Black Dimensions’ (1999) and ‘Death Cult Armageddon’ (2003) and conquered the world. With just two studio efforts in the last fifteen years – 2010’s ‘Abrahadabra’ and 2018’s ‘Eonian’ – the fans are definitely hungry for more. Remaining founders Silenoz and Shagrath have made a conscious decision to favour quality over quantity but a new album is in the works! Meanwhile, in preparation for their appearance here, check out their 2017 live DVD/album ‘Forces of the Northern Light’, which was recorded with a full symphonic orchestra.
