Alcatraz Line up: 2023

The number of legendary bands to play Alcatraz 2023 is starting to reach epic proportions. With Converge we’ve managed to bill one of the flagbearers of the American hardcore/punk movement. The band was formed in 1990 by vocalist/graphic artist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou and meanwhile has ten albums to its credit. Despite the undeniable quality of their output they laboured in the underground scene for a long time. It wasn’t until ‘Axe to Fall’ (2009), ‘All We Love We Leave Behind’ (2012) and especially ‘The Dusk In Us’ (2017) that the foursome were able to appeal to a wider audience. Under the moniker Blood Moon the band members teamed up with Chelsea Wolfe and Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe), Stephen Brodsky (Cave In) and Steve Von Till (Neurosis) and embarked on a tour to perform ambient/post rock-influenced versions of a number of Converge songs live. The collaboration paved the way for the album ‘Bloodmoon: I’ that was entirely recorded with Chelsea Wolfe.
