For over three decades, Avulsed have flown the flag for Spanish death metal with guts, gore and unrelenting force. Their lyrics delve into all things gruesome, with a predilection for surgical horror, psychological trauma and the darker side of the human condition. Their classic album ‘Stabwound Orgasm’ (1999) is a landmark in European death metal, combining blastbeats with catchy hooks and an almost groovy undertow. Frontman Dave Rotten is a legend in his own right, known for both his guttural vocals and relentless support of the underground. Their eighth slab ‘Phoenix Cryptobiosis’ hit the shelves earlier this year and met with critical acclaim thanks to its strong classic death metal vibe, infectious riffs and a seamless blend of melody and brutality.
