Bio
Arch Enemy formed in 1996 as a kind of alliance of top musicians from the death metal world. Right from the start, the melodic twist in their music stood out, without compromising their aggressive DNA.
In 2001, after three studio albums, it was game over for vocalist Johan Liiva. He was replaced by stage animal and roaring powerhouse Angela Gossow. That immediately meant a step up for the Swedes, but when Gossow herself was succeeded in 2014 by Canadian Alissa White Gluz, the band finally broke through to a much wider audience. Her striking appearance combined with her chilling screams made White Gluz an even bigger crowd favorite than Gossow already was. In 2025, Blood Dynasty will be released, the first full length album with guitarist Joey Concepcion following the departure of Jeff Loomis. With the new album, Arch Enemy once again proves that it still firmly holds its place in the melodic death metal firmament. There was widespread astonishment when, not long after, White Gluz announced that she was leaving Arch Enemy to focus on a solo career. Fast forward to 19 February of this year: after months of complete silence and heavy speculation, Arch Enemy revealed that it had found a new vocalist. American singer Lauren Hart (ex Once Human) takes over the torch from Alissa White Gluz, ushering in a fourth vocal era for the band. The change was immediately underscored with a new single, “To The Last Breath.” The title is a clear signal that Arch Enemy intends to move forward and not look back. Anyone curious to see how Hart fares live would do well to head to Kortrijk on Saturday 8 August.
