This five-piece from the Swedish city of Falun can be recognised from their surreal lyrics, an energy bomb of a singer and a signature sound that combines progressive stoner rock with doom, folk and psychedelic influences.
Their first EP dropped in 2018 and instantly earned them a reputation as rising stars of the international underground scene. When Covid hit Gaupa turned the pandemic to its advantage by streaming concerts online, contributing to their growing popularity. Granted, Gaupa may not be archetypical Alcatraz material but the aplomb with which they tear down walls between genres in pursuit of their art is admirable and nothing short of awe-inspiring. Be sure to warm up your neck muscles because this promises to be a neck wrecker of a show.
