Orange Goblin’s music is a mix of stoner and doom metal with punk accents and several other influences thrown in the mix. They have earned a solid live reputation over the years and are considered by many to be something of a cult band. 2012’s ‘A Eulogy for the Damned’ was a long time in the making but was also greeted as the best and most mature effort of the band’s career. A tough act to follow, but their last outing to date, ‘Back from the Abyss’ (2014), was every bit as good: The album has a Sabbathesque feel and offers a generous helping of groove, stoner and doom with a slice of punk thrown in. One of the most memorable moments is certainly ‘The Devil’s Whip’, a chip off the old Motörhead block that clocks in at just 2:15. ‘A Eulogy for the Fans: Orange Goblin Live 2012’ is the perfect introduction if you want to get a taste of what these guys sound like live.
