Bury Tomorrow

Alcatraz Line up: 2019, 2023

Firmly rooted in the tradition of older metalcore acts such as Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, Bury Tomorrow put their own unique spin on the genre’s trademark ingredients. Contrary to so many of their peers, Bury Tomorrow haven’t changed their sound, electing instead to fine-tune what they do best: traditional metalcore. Over the years they have continued to grow on every level: vocal performance (‘Runes’), musicianship and lyrically (‘Cannibal’). On ‘Black Flame’ (2018), the Southampton, UK based fivesome stay the course with a mixture of harsh and clean vocals, and typically aggressive metalcore sections that alternate with clean vocals to keep things interesting. Also, the addition of Kristan Dawson in 2013 added a melodic death metal vibe to the music, making it more accessible. The tag team use of sledgehammer and melodic sections continues on their last studio outing to date, the very personal and emotional ‘Cannibal’ (2020). The two new faces on stage are rhythm guitarist Ed Hartwell and Tom Prendergast (keyboards/clean vocals), who were brought in following the departure of founding member Jason Cameron. exit
