Sleep

Matt Pike together with Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius (previously all in Asbestosdeath) formed the sludge/doom metal band Sleep in 1990.

Their ‘Holy Mountain’ and ‘Jerusalem/Dopesmoker’ albums are now classic albums within the stoner/doom genre. Label issues forced the highly influential Sleep to call it quits in 1998. Pike launches High On Fire. Cisneros regroups Sleep in 2009 with Jason Roeder (Neurosis) replacing Hakius on drums. Choosing is losing, so for the 10th edition of Alcatraz, we'll have both bands on the line-up!  Follow the smoke to the riff filled land!
