Quiz time: Which band has played four times out of ten editions at Alcatraz festival? Death Angel! Old School Metal Thrashers from the very beginning will agree that the albums "The Ultra-Violence" and "Frolic Through The Park” are amoung the very foundations of thrash metal.
Album “Act III”, while not as fast, but more mature and with very melodic songwriting, opened doors and brought them even more success. However, like many metal bands in the nineties, when it rains, it pours, a tragic tour bus accident in 1991 happened, critically injuring their drummer, making the band disappear almost entirely. After almost a decades absence, in 2001 the band reunited at the Legendary Thrash of The Titans festival. With this new found energy and plans for the future they returned, securing a record deal with Nuclear Blast and releasing in 2004, "The Art Of Dying" as that long overdue fourth album. A stunning comeback for the ground breaking and legendary Bay Area thrashers. What followed were albums delivered by a stronger, harder, more powerful, rhythmic, angrier and thrashier Death Angel, each album a sizzling sequel to their already impressive discography. On last year’s “The Evil Divide” Death Angel rages like a bullet train to its destination, gently flirting here and there with other genres. But still punching us with a flurry of thrash metal fists. Anyone who has scene this band live, knows that they are even better on stage. Alcatraz get ready to Kill As One! As we experience The Ultra Violence! Once again!
